Weekend Projects

Headbands!
Materials from Joann and Bartell
I've had these on my craft to-do list for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised at the feather headband, I thought of all of them, that one would be a disaster. Turns out the bigger gem one was (apparently I use glue as liberally as a first grader). The first attempt looked like crap, I got glue everywhere, but headbands were on sale at Bartell this weekend, so I spent another $2 and made a better one.
You can find feather headband tutorials all over YouTube and the internet, but it's basically just cutting out a tear-shaped piece of craft felt, interfacing and gluing the feathers on in layers. The others are pretty self-explanatory.

And luckily I learned to lay off the glue, because today I had my first bookbinding class!

Bookbinding I with Seattle Book Arts

Today we made a book cradle with a covered box that closes with a magnet. Bookbinding board, decorative paper and glue is mostly what we used. I'll keep posting what I make over the next four weeks.
