The 11-And-A-Half-Foot-Hem Dress

Fabric from Mood

FINALLY finished a dress!! It's been five months since the last thing I made. Besides moving and getting the sewing room all set up, this dress just took effing forever. I lined it with linen, so it's a little ugly on the inside, but feels much better than itchy wool all over me. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out, so perhaps it was worth the wait.

Oh, and I did measure the hem. If you think it's a lot of skirt now, let me tell you I took off a good 20 inches or so. And I hand-sewed all 11 feet of it! +100 points. It works very well for twirling...

And twirling...

You get the idea.

Next up, I'm going to work on something more instantly gratifying. BTW, I finally made it to the Fashion District and it is the strangest place ever, but I scored these 6 yards for $24:
Good thing it's far enough away. Even though it's cheap, I've got a closet full of fabric.

Great job! I'm about to make this same dress in a black/white plaid. I hope it comes out as good as yours.
