Girls Day Out Necklace

For my sister's birthday, my daughter suggested we go out for high tea. I was given a pendant by my sister, that I had not used yet, so decided to create a high tea necklace for the event.

Jewelry Recrafed

We call this recrafting because it's something made by updating an existing item, or putting more than one existing item together to create something new. The first item originally consisted of the chain part of the necklace which was, unfortunately, too small for my mammoth neck. I added the blue beads along the chain, and the dropdown blue bead.

The next item was fairly simple. I obtained from somewhere a multi-strand silver chain. I didn't like the look of it, and figured I would never wear it as is, so I take off a strand when I come across a great pendant. The pendant was a gift and looks great with one length of chain.

Jewelry

It's time I added more to this blog, so I'm catching up on my jewelry work. First, a necklace I made from the ground up. I needed something pink and remembered this main bead. I put together the necklace and wore it the same day! I just can't remember what I needed pink for!

Crafternoon!

Well, here I am in Austin, if you haven't already read and my new roommate, like myself, is a crafty lady. She organizes monthly Crafternoons and I was lucky enough to participate on Sunday. We tie-dyed, as you can see.

People brought undies, socks, button-down shirts and Meagan (said roomie) even dyed a doily.

I tried to do a trick I learned in surface design in college, which is pulling up little bits of fabric and rubber banding them to make circles of dye. Probably would have worked better with thinner cotton, but all I had time to get was a canvas tote, so it just looks like acid wash, which is fine with me.
I can't believe it's been almost two months since my last finished project!
