The Wendy Top

This is Simplicity 4111. It's a design by Wendy Mullin, who owns Built by Wendy, a label in New York. She started making patterns for Simplicity a little while ago and here is my version!

The Sweater Has Begun!

So here is the winner of Anna's first sweater contest
And things are moving on quite nicely (slowly, but nicely). Just wanted to post an update!

A new nomination and a new blog

I just bought this pattern online, and decided to nominate it for first sweater. The diamond knit is similar to the purple one on the other post
And here is another blog to look at

A couple crafty blogs

Here are a couple blogs I like

http://www.stacysews.com/
Look at her projects, I like how she adds up the cost of her stuff!

http://yellowwood.wordpress.com/
I have the pattern for the socks she made. Maybe I'll make some socks after I finish my sweater.

And the nominees are...

So here are the nominations for my first knitted sweater. I figured that if I'm going to dive into a big (and expensive) project like this, I should spend some time thinking about it and get some advice. So here are the sweaters...

This one has a diamond pattern on it, if you can't see. I might make the sleeves a little longer if I make this one.

I wonder if I, too, would make this face when I wear this sweater
I don't know what they mean by a "wool house", but I don't want to go in.
I would not make this a turtleneck, just for your information.

I know this picture is terrible, but it's basically just a cardigan.

I hope I didn't just break any copyright laws or anything.

Let me know what you think! Dane votes for the first one, if you were wondering...

I need more crafting time!

I've been looking at other people's craft blogs and getting jealous how everyone else seems to finish projects so quickly! Every quarter I tell myself I'm going to devote myself to some serious crafting time every week. And then cut up pieces of fabric sit on the sewing machine, skeins of yarn wait to be used, beads are waiting in their packages to be opened.
At least I'll have some time spring break to get caught up. At least a little.
There never seems to be any shortage of money or sales at Joann, so I have a seriously embarassing stash of EVERYTHING and no time to do it all. Bah!

Anyway, I have plans to start knitting my first sweater soon. I'm just trying to decide which one. I want to start with something simple, but not boring.
Nominations for Anna's first sweater will be posted in a couple days.

Embroidery Project

Finally! A new post!

We had an embroidery assignment for my Surface class. Awesome! Basically we had to do four squares, one each of flat, chain, knot and composite stitches and embellish around the outside. I even got to dye the floss myself!
I know you can't see it very well, but you can look at it in person some time.
And here's the Shisha stitch, which I didn't know how to do until class. It's the one that holds in the coins. The Euro has a stitch that has no name (I think my professor may have made it up), but that can hold anything in it.
